abstract
When the Algerian educational system adopted the competency-based approach, it sought to achieve a qualitative transformation in its trajectory. This ambition stemmed from a legitimate desire to overcome the crisis manifested in several ways: the isolation of schools from their socio-economic and cultural environment; the reinforcement of cultural, political, and economic inequalities; the weak contribution of education to comprehensive societal development and knowledge accumulation; and the predominance of quantitative over qualitative dimensions. These imbalances necessitated a comprehensive reform of the system, particularly its foundational principles. Within this framework, competency-based pedagogy emerged as a modern vision emphasizing the individual’s adaptation to natural, social, cultural, and economic contexts.
