abstract
Archaeology is, by its very nature, a human science. Through techniques of data acquisition in the field such as surveys, soundings, excavations, quantification, description, and analysis of material remains, it seeks to reconstruct and interpret ancient material cultures, drawing inferences about human behavior as well as settlement patterns at both micro- and macro-regional scales. Beyond the chronological dimension of the data collected, their geospatial character has prompted archaeologists to incorporate new research methods and to open the discipline to other fields whose interpretive potential provides valuable contributions to the classical approaches of prehistoric archaeology…..
