abstract

This publication is part of the research conducted at CRASC since 2008 on epigraphy and popular culture in Algeria. It examines the dynamics between scholarly and non-scholarly culture, highlighting the evolution of artistic practices. The research is based on an empirical survey involving observations in art galleries and interviews with key stakeholders in the sector, such as artists and exhibition organizers. The aim is to understand the issues at stake in the plastic arts market, particularly the sensitivity of sales, which are often negotiated privately, and the factors that determine the value of works.
